I'm starting this thread so we can discuss tech tools that we missed, or have discovered, or are looking for as we design our courses.

For example:

Does anyone know of a basic forum that I could moderate and use? I plan on making a quick introductory group for the educators and professionals at my school, and I want to both have them respond to questions in quests and allow them to comment to each other.

Anyone know of anything?

You have yahoo groups and google also has something I think. If you have website access phpbb bulletin board works. You could also go with a blog format.

In a stroke of brilliant stupidity, I realized that I can, in fact, just use shivtr which has forums, the ability to moderate anything, and the ability to accept posts with links, photos, and videos. I don't know why I didn't see what was right in front of my face.

Hey MacRoss -
How are you liking Shivtr? I've not implemented my own before and am curious as to what your firsthand review was.

I'm finding that it is very easy to edit, once you learn your way around. There is a bit of trial-and-error when setting things up, and the site I have created is not 'live' yet. I haven't actually had a chance to use it in a classroom environment, or even implement any 3DGL stuff in my classes because I was cut to half-time over the summer and have had to do a lot more work to make up for the loss of pay.

I'm thinking that it would be a good way to set up a class room online since it allows for the moderation and interaction necessary, as well as allowing only members to have access to certain areas of the site.
