Show off your app here. You can post a picture of your app or video of your-app-in-action. Make sure you are using a different cat photo for your app. Feel free to share your design experience regarding this app. :)

Whew! Great process but a bit of a learning curve for me! The audio is lower in the app than in my computer (I used a different audio file than the one provided. Also, the packaging was a little slow and confusing. For example, with the QR packaging, I have scanned it with my reader on my Nexus 7, but it doesn't open the app at all. It just links to the MIT page and then stops.

I figured out the Nexus 7 issue. My tablet had blocked apps from unknown sources and I couldn't figure out how to disable this feature until later. I'm excited to have my first app!

OMG - This is the third time I have tried to submit my First App. All my fault, I kept exiting out of the website.

I too had difficulties with this but only because I did not download the App software to my computer. Worked like a charm after that. Here is my first app and the sound is real low. I also tried to add a vibration but both the sound and vibration would not work together. Let me know if you know how to do this.

Here is my first app and bar code:

OPPS now it will let me copy and paste my images. HELP

Wow, that took a long time for such a simple app. I did have to re-size my picture in Fireworks, catch my cat and record her with Audacity, and read the directions for building the app a million times. Here is a video of the site and playing the emulator.

Same exercise as the droid app session I went to at itse.

I deviated a bit from the tutorial but its kinda fun.

You are making progress!
Check out the video tutorial on AI:2 quest.
You need to follow that instruction in that video instead of using the QR Code generator in App Inventor.
The internal QR Code only allow people with AI account to download your app, which is quite limited.
Hope this helps.

Cat was a little uncooperative-wanted to eat my phone and then blinked when the flash went off. Biggest problem was finding the driver for my phone but finally succeeded.

I uploaded a little video of my app on my blog at http://argfored.blogspot.com/2012/08/my-first-app.html. I don't have an Android phone, but I think my dad does, so I'm going to borrow his phone tomorrow and see if I can actually load this app on a real phone.

I have now changed the way I am generating QR codes, based on the tutorial. I updated Hello Purr and MoleMash so far.

This is so exciting!!!

Link to where I uploaded the app

How are people uploading images to this forum?

I am having too much of a learning curve with this forum software so that link may be all that I can put up here for now. Hopefully when I submit this part of the quest as being finished, I can appropriately show off what I just learned how to do.
maybe the QR code?
none of my links open in a new window so you may want to right click them- I just did not want to take time to look up the HTML.

While trying to figure out how to give a reply, I think I gave you a -1. Sorry. That was not my intent.:B
It is very smart what you did to show your app and its functionality. I am going to borrow your idea, I hope you don't mind.

I am having more of a learning curve with this message board interface than with completing the quests :*(

Thank you Sukey for the idea of making a video to demonstrate the app.

Link to video of app- you'll want to right click to open in new tab

Like with others, I took some liberties with my HelloPurr app.

Enjoy!

Like Sukey, I do not have an Android phone either, so I created a short video of my app, which can be viewed here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZttKDdfq3E

I followed the directions to a T, though I kept thinking, "I want to create an app of my dog, Chillie, instead!"

Next time around, I suppose ;)

Feeling very accomplished, wishing I had both a MacBook and a phone that would allow me to play my app...all in good time!

UPDATE (2 HOURS AFTER POSTING THIS RESPONSE):

Thanks to the tip from Dr. Hsu on timcgrace's post in the PaintPot thread, I discovered that DropBox could be utilized to share the link for QR Code purposes instead of GoogleSites -- I immediately tried this out. Took the link, created a QR code with it, and tested it on my boyfriend's Android phone -- voila! It works! SO EXCITED!!!!

I did it :) My first app! How fun and exciting. I teach Video Game Design and Development and would love to start teaching app development as well, especially in terms of creating simple games for Android and iOS devices.

Here is the link to a download page for my first app!
App Inventor Creations Page

My biggest issue was getting the blocks editor to open. I have AVG anti virus and it was preventing blocks editor from moving past the download stage.

Made it! Woot! I am still a bit puzzled on how to Scan a QR code on my new Nexus 7. But I think I got it (and can test on my Droid X after I recharge the stinking 10 minute battery -grrr (oh, sorry, Cat metaphor - hissss).

The example cat looks just like mine, so I was lazy and did not scan Walker's face .... yet (or sample his high pitched eunuch meow)

Thanks for teaching us about the way cool puzzle piece coding thing!

See the app on my new App page

Could the anti-virus software be turned off temporarily?

Yes, I turned it off, otherwise I never would have gotten the blocks editor to open. ;)
