Show off your app here. You can post a picture of your app or video of your-app-in-action. Share also your QR Code so others can play and test your app.

Very impressed by Tim's tweaks! It's all I can do to just create the app!
Anyway, here's the QR code

(I found that without the French accent marks on Cathedrale, my app located the nearest Comfort Inn instead. I was able to search for the Cathedrale, however)

Kimmy, your video is amusing with the call-outs. Nicely done! So are you also a Camtasia fan? I am!

How concerned should I be that the maps part of the app is not identifying with the locations I've set in my definitions block.

Something is not connecting with my database. Looking at the dataURI, I have one in my definitions part of the block editor and it is to "set global" DataUri "to" and is shaped differently than just a plain "def" name "as" block. I tried both, but neither seemed to work as a database.

I've closed the emulator, reopened it, reloaded the blocks editor so that the old information would hopefully get knocked out, but nothing seems to get the maps part of the app to actually go to the designated sites. In the beginning, Tour Eiffel kept showing up in Texas because there is a restaurant there and Google cookied my machine for that to be the default location. I think it now searches Paris.

I've tried using URLs, putting in just the geo:lat,lng?sizing but that did not work. The problem is that the app is totally ignoring the fact that I am trying to tell it where to go; it wants to figure it out for itself.

Here are some images of what my blocks editor looks like:
The fourth one is for San Francisco MOMA because I was wondering what would happen if I put in something "unique" and not in Paris. Even though I found the SF MOMA and put in its URL, it still did an independent search for "SF MOMA". Whatever we put in the destinations text is what is searches for- it does not care that I've defined that variable.

Advice, anybody?

Thanks!

Just for fun, I wanted to see what would happen if "puppy dogs" was a possible destination. I did not put in a url or define what location to use for the web address. The first pic is of puppy dogs in the list, the second pic is where it took me.

Check Figure 6-6 of the tutorial to see if you missed some blocks in the third blocks in your first screenshot.

I figured out what I did wrong: mainly I was merging parts 1 and 2 without fully reading them correctly. It is what I scold my students for doing wrong all of the time: READ the directions before doing something. Mentally I think it differently, but you get the picture. Kind of like when I grade free response tests and see people just jump in with an answer without reading the question- answer the blanking question. Anyway... here are bunches of images and other things you can amuse yourself with for the Paris Map Tour.

link to the uploaded app (you may want to right click to open in new tab)

Link to my website page that lists my apps (you'll want to right click to open in new tab)

video of me playing the app (you'll want to right click to open in new tab; click on the arrow to play the video)

This was quite a learning experience- Wonderful!

Enjoy!

Zetria,
Double-check your dropbox status/settings/URL's. None of the images are showing up, including Quest 3 images that were once visible.

I changed the location to the Outer Banks of NC, because that is where I live.

I like that a variable can also be an array. I don't know much about Java but in JavaScript it is very similar. You can say that a variable is a new array and then just list out the items below. This concept will transfer right over to students as the move up in languages.

I didn't add anything to this app. It ran beautifully on the nexus 10 after I bipassed the firewall. It didn't work well on the Galaxy SIII. I blame Verizon. The resolution wouldn't clear up and I couldn't even take a screenshot when I tried to go to a location in maps. The app worked fine. Maps just failed.

Thanks for the virtual tour to LCSC!
A few recommendations:
  • Allow some space between "L" and the top side of the screen;
  • Provide an icon for your app;
  • Use "street view" linke for one of your destinations on the list.

I had a really hard time with this one. It turns out that the webviewer doesn't work on my Note3. After 2 days of frustration and troubleshooting, I used the emulator and it worked the first time. I didnt customize it because i surpassed my desire for this quest.
